So, I walk into the door of the hospital. And as I am entering the building, the ER doors to my right swing open. And I hear the whirring of the X-ray card which is followed by the X-ray tech. And she is smiling, but what she says does not match her bright smile. "Go away. This is a bee hive and all the bees are humming."
"Oh, thanks," I say. And I think, This is not what I want to hear first thing after walking in the door.
Of course, I continue down the hall to the RT cave. And the door is shut. Before I open it i wonder if the night shift RT is in there. If not, that will be a sign to me that the humming bees are effecting my department too. But, I open it and there is my night shift friend sitting at one of the two work stations. And she yawns.
And I think, Yeah! Yawning is what I like to see. That is a good sign.
This brings to the forefront of my mind things I do not want to hear first thing when I walk into the door of work. A common one is, "It has been a night from hell. You are going to have a bad day." Um, please don't say that. Just because you were busy during the night does not mean I am going to be busy during my shift.
You get up in the morning thinking, "I really do not want to go to work today." And so then you have to convince yourself you want to go there. So you get up, you make breakfast and a caffeinated beverage. And you relax while sipping your drink. And you get to work and hear, "You don't want to be here."
Yeah. That's not what I want to hear.
