I recently gave a breathing treatment to an asthmatic. When the treatment was finished, he said, "Why do I even need breathing treatments. I don't think I even need them."
Before I responded, he said, "But my doctor ordered it, so I must need it."
"You are the boss, not your doctor," I said.
"Oh, I never thought of that!" he said.
I've actually had similar discussions several times in the past few weeks. It's amazing how many people "forget" they are paying the doctor, not the other way around.
