New Molecule discovery may LIGHT way to asthma cure

Scientists are making some real progress lately in their attempts to understand asthma better and perhaps even find a cure. The latest discovery is a molecule called LIGHT that they believe might be linked to asthma and COPD.

The molecule was examined in mice and found it to be linked to lung function. They determined the molecule causes changes in the structure of the lungs that results in increased inflammation in that area of the body. This results in the lungs not working as well as they should.

Future research will definitely be needed in this area, yet future medicines may be produced to target this molecule in an attempt to reduce your risk and your child's risk for developing this disease. Or at least this might provide a better and safer treatment for preventing and controlling asthma.

We'll have to keep our eye out for this LIGHT.
