When we all said "no" we were asked "But don't you feel like you get less respect from patients by not wearing a lab coat?" We were all confused. I never even thought about it. Our response was that respect comes from self-confidence and bearing, not from a lab coat. We rarely wear them either but a couple of people do for the pockets so it's no big deal either way.

I get cold so even in the summer I wear long sleeved t-shirts under my scrubs and half the time in the winter I wear hoodies over that. Unless I'm in the NICU and then I try for naked (kidding!) because it's damn hot in those isolettes.Glennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17528360147805366086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7423880838207203660.post-17207399946466392162008-11-03T14:25:00.000-05:002008-11-03T14:25:00.000-05:00I've already come up with a system I'm using for c...I've already come up with a system I'm using for clinicals. Since it is so hard to read the drug name on the unit doses of nebs (you know, the name etched into the clear plastic ampule), I'm going to write like "AL" for albuterol, "AT" for atrovent, "L" for levalbuterol, "D" for duoneb...well you get it.

And yes, we have to wear lab jackets for school. Well, I wouldn't consider them that. What we really have to wear is a white scrub jacket with no collar, and snaps instead of buttons-- so we don't get confused with doctors. The RT's where I work also can't wear lab coats with a collar and buttons for this reason, but they can wear the scrub jackets.Jaredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02971521259527034303noreply@blogger.com
